I love photographing icebergs from my kayak. For this shot, I zoomed in with my telephoto lens to capture the intricate patterns & designs within the ice wall. I was kayaking on Mendenhall Lake in Juneau, Alaska battling some pretty intense winds to get this image. To set up each shot, I would kayak into the wind 30-40ft beyond the iceberg, put down my paddle, and quickly get my camera out of my dry bag as the winds pushed me backwards toward the iceberg, taking as many photos as I could before getting too close to the ice. I repeated this process several times until I found the composition I was looking for. This image always brings me feelings of peace, but capturing it was actually quite chaotic!
