This is one of the most unique moments I experienced in Alaska! From this perspective, I was viewing Mendenhall Glacier from a cave within an iceberg which used to be part of the glacier. Each summer, chunks of ice detach from the glacier and move through the lake. In the winter, the lake freezes, and the existing icebergs get frozen in place. Not long after I took this photo, the lake thawed, this iceberg melted and became part of the lake. It was a unique moment that will never exist again.
